The Owner

Winnie Ng, the owner of Kam Han, has been here since day one — she hasn’t missed a single day in 18 years. Originally from a small village in China, Winnie immigrated to Calgary in search of opportunity. This restaurant became a way to support her family and build something meaningful in a new country. She still travels back to China to visit and celebrate with her family, but Kam Han has always been her second home.

Winnie has also extended that home to her family — many of whom work alongside her in the restaurant. Her son, Jacob, practically grew up here. While studying engineering in the United States, he always returned to Calgary during the summers to help at Kam Han. Many of our regulars have watched him grow up, and say his smile hasn’t changed. Even as an engineer, Jacob still returns to the restaurant to be around the community and the people he loves to serve.

We serve both Western-style Chinese food and more traditional dishes — something for everyone. Kam Han is run by a small but mighty team of people who care deeply about what they do. Every dumpling, every sizzling plate, every carefully packed takeout bag is part of a bigger story: one of family, resilience, and pride.
